There are three types of Hybrid vehicle; mild Hybrids, Hybrids and Plug-in Hybrids. Mild Hybrids only use one or more electric motors to supplement the engine during acceleration and cruising – they cannot power the car without the engine’s assistance. Hybrids allow for short spells of electric-only driving thanks to their more powerful electrical powertrains.
