• Arriving to Irish shores in May 2022

Today, Toyota is excited to present the world premiere of the all-new bZ4X, the first model in a new series of bZ – beyond Zero – battery electric vehicles (BEVs). The European Premier and full reveal will take place on December 2nd, 2021, at Toyota’s Kenshiki #3 event, and Irish motorists will be able to test drive the new zero emissions bZ4X at Toyota dealerships from May 2022.

Michael Gaynor, Marketing Director for Toyota Ireland commented: “We are thrilled to reveal the bZ4X production model today and we can’t wait to bring it to Irish motorists in May 2022. The bZ4X is the next step in our electrification journey, and it will be a welcome addition to our industry leading range of low CO2 self-charging hybrids.

As our first fully electric SUV, the bZ4X makes an impressive statement in terms of both form and function, blending dynamic SUV design, genuine all-wheel-drive capability, and a powerful battery capable of delivering more than 450kms on one charge.”

The introduction of the bZ4X strengthens Toyota’s multi-technology approach to meet different mobility requirements by offering customers a full line-up of electrified vehicles, including hybrid, plug-in hybrid, battery electric and hydrogen fuel cell powered vehicles. Toyota aims to reduce CO2 with products that are easy to use and have strong customer appeal, and these technologies will together help deliver the goal of carbon neutrality.

Faithful in its design and technology to its concept predecessor, revealed earlier this year, the new bZ4X is the first model to be developed by Toyota entirely as a BEV. It is also the first car to be built on the company’s new BEV dedicated platform. Based on e-TNGA philosophy, this has been co-developed by Toyota and Subaru. Incorporating the battery unit as an integral part of the chassis, beneath the vehicle floor, this gives the fundamental benefits of a low centre of gravity, excellent front/rear weight balance and high body rigidity for exceptional safety, ride and handling.

The bZ4X is a spacious, comfortable SUV, available with a new all-wheel drive system that provides class-leading off-road handling and performance with separate electric motors for each axle. Its clean, sleek, and powerful exterior design reflects both its advanced BEV qualities and SUV status and its long wheelbase provides excellent accommodation in a light and open five-seat cabin, with generous load capacity.

Toyota’s confidence in the quality of the battery is reflected in a guarantee it will retain at least 70 per cent of its capacity up to 10 years, covered by the original EV Manufacturing Warranty until 8 years or 160,000 kilometres, and with the additional Extended Battery Care up to 10 years or 1 million kilometres driven that is activated by an annual EV Health Check (T&C apply).

Beyond Zero

Zero emissions are only part of Toyota’s ambition – as the “beyond” element in bZ makes clear. Toyota is committed to delivering ever-better mobility for all, with products and services that enhance the pleasure of driving, keeping all road-users safe and helping build better societies around the world.
