Charging

Driving

The battery powers the electric motor, turning the wheels and driving the vehicle forward.

Regenerative braking

When the driver brakes and the vehicle decelerates, energy that would usually be lost during this process is sent to top up the battery.

* In order to ensure effective charging and preserve battery health over the life of the vehicle, DC Fast Charging power of the Toyota Battery Electric cars may be reduced temporarily (for roughly 24 hours) after two sessions per day (equivalent of two times 10% to 80% state of charge).
