A 360º approach towards zero emissions

For many years we have been working hard to reduce the impact our cars have on the environment. A significant milestone came with the introduction of our first hybrid model, the Prius, in 1997. Since then we have led the automotive world in the development of hybrid, plug-in hybrid and hydrogen-fuel cell technologies.

More than just our cars

But it’s not just the cars you drive that matter, it is everything we do. From the building of sustainable manufacturing plants, to the recyclability of our cars and reforestation - we are actively involved in a wide variety of initiatives to improve the environment.

Our approach to the environment

Driven by our desire for a future with no emissions and no waste, we have taken a 360º approach to reducing the impact on the environment from all our business activities.

As well as our continual work to reduce harmful emissions from our road cars, we are working tirelessly in these areas:

  • Minimising the quantity of natural resources we use in manufacturing
  • Maximising the amount we recycle
  • Increasing the re-use and re-manufacturing of parts
  • Reducing the environmental footprint of all our operations
  • Working with local communities to improve the quality and biodiversity of their environments
