The latter includes accident avoidance and injury mitigating functions, such as Autonomous Emergency Braking, Electronic Stability Control and a speed limiter. The new Avensis scored an outstanding 93% for Adult Occupant protection, 85% for Child Occupant, 78% for Pedestrian and 81% for Safety Assist. The new Avensis also achieved a maximum score for the side barrier impact, with good protection for all critical body areas. Likewise, in the more severe side pole test, protection was good.
